We are delighted to welcome Nic Ryan over from Australia. He is one of the top 10 influencers on data science as voted by Linked and brings a wealth of expertise and he’ll be joining us for the evening.

It will be a 2 part event, with a talk and an interactive ‘an evening with Nic Ryan’ chat.

There is a continuum of analytics sophistication in businesses. Nic will outline a roadmap of deliberate steps for how a business can move from over reliance on spreadsheet software to automation of reporting and business processes.

The benefits of reducing time spent on repetitive manual processes and reducing errors, not to mention democratising data access and storing data properly enables a business to push further along the spectrum to ultimately becoming a data-driven, AI-powered organisation.

BIO
Nic originally trained as and Actuary through the University of NSW, Australia. After a few years he found himself naturally being pulled towards data science through his passion for data and statistics. He gave in and made the switch to data science many years ago and has never looked back!

Nic has spent many years in the trenches in data science and analytics departments. Before starting DataFriends, Nic was Head of Data Science managing 3 teams across 2 countries. Nic now has more than 22,000 followers on LinkedIn and was named among the LinkedIn Top Voices 2018: Data Science and Analytics.

Nic is passionate at what he does and loves to share his enthusiasm with people. He does this by:

– Writing extensively on analytics and startups.
– He is regularly invited to speak at conferences, webinars, interviews and podcasts
– he is fortunate to be connected with some of the best minds in the field

Because of his unique beginnings, Nic has had the opportunity to work in diverse industries such as insurance, banking, agriculture, and online advertising and is therefore comfortable turning his hand to any industry. He has worked with some of the largest banks and insurance companies in Australia all the way down to small startups of 4, always helping them to drive value with data.

While not doing data science Nic is a keen basketball player and surfer, still playing 3 times per week and surfing whenever he can. He is still waiting for the call up to his favourite NBA team!
